Power and Energy Systems research focuses on systems and devices for the conversion, delivery, and use of energy in electrical form.

Faculty and students participate in two world-class centers: the Grainger Center for Electric Machinery and Electromechanics and the Power Systems Engineering Research Center. These centers sponsor undergraduate student team projects in electric cars and alternative energy, and graduate student projects in analysis, simulation, data visualization, control, hybrid systems, design, applications, and industry restructuring. The projects are highly interdisciplinary, and involve collaboration with many other research areas in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, and business.
